I’ve heard reports that the New River Rendezvous registration is starting to get full. This year organizers are limiting the event to the first 700 climbers who register in advance. The fee is only $25 and from my past experiences at the Rendezvous, it will be money well spent.

The Tugging Shacks is a small, yet very cool bouldering area near Interp and OUL at the New River Gorge. The New River Rendezvous, now one of the premier climbing events in the U.S., has announced this year’s dates – May 16-18, 2008. There will be a few changes this year including pre-registration limiting attendees to 700 (last year was around 1200 climbers) and parking passes will now be needed. Blacksburg climber Dave Reis on the Ronski Feint (V7) at the Interp bouldering area, New River Gorge. And yes, despite Dave’s shirtless send of this problem, it was late November! The problem finishes just to the left of the tree.

Late in the fall last year, there were some excellent bouldering conditions at the New River Gorge. The next couple of posts highlight some of these problems. The following pics are of Shampoo (V5) at Burnwood.
